One Last Holiday Post... NEW YEARS!

Every year for New Years, for as long as I can remember, my family and I have had a big party with homemade egg rolls and fried rice. I had to work New Years Day so I couldn't be home for this year. I convinced my roommates to help me throw a big New Years Eve party! We had so much fun!

Here are some pictures from our EGG ROLL EXTRAVAGANZA!

We had everyone make their own party hats. It was hit! But we are still finding glitter everywhere.

I forgot to take pictures of the actual egg rolls and fried rice...but they were oh so delicious! I have a lot of filling and wrappers left over so I need to make more. YUMMY!

The Holidays continued...

Christmas exploded in our house this year. And it was so pretty!! We had 2 trees because my roommates already had Christmas stuff and I wanted to use mine too. So I bought another tree. :-) I wish I would have taken some pictures at night but I forgot and now  its too late because most of it is down. Oh well!! You can still see how cute it all is!

The star is a little small but that is what I had and I couldn't find anything better. However, yesterday I found a cool tree topper on clearance at Target. I will need to spray paint it silver but it was only $4.50!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas!!

The Holidays!!

So I know it's January but I'm putting up pictures of Thanksgiving.
I had to work Thanksgiving this year (don't even get me started with how bad that day was) so I went up to Utah the weekend before for our "Fakesgiving". We made lots of yummy food!

Sweet Potatoes! We found the recipe for Ruths Chris Sweet Potatoes. AMAZING!!

Christmas and New Years Pictures to come.... ;-)

Some thoughts I want to share

When I was in high school I did an internship on a small labor and delivery floor. I absolutely loved it. I loved it so much that somedays I would stay late, on purpose, cause I wanted to, not because I had to. I loved it! I remember that semester walking out to my car to go home from the internship and I said to myself, "I hope when I am in school and things get really hard I remember how much I love this." Nursing school was crazy hard and being a real nurse can be even harder. I get so so so so so tired of patients who come in the hospital and expect a miracle but refuse to do the things they need to do to get better and stay better. I get so so so tired of pts who end up in the hospital because of something they did to themselves. I am also tired of families who hold on to long and keep their family members alive even when the patient has absolutely no quality of life. But, every once in awhile I have a patient that melts my heart and helps me remember why I am a nurse. When you hold a patients hand who can not communicate, while a procedure is done or just because you can tell they need some love, and they grip your hand so tight and won't let go. I like to think that patient won't let go of my hand because they feel love and safety from me. And that makes my job worth it. When I can make a difference for real and not just be a caterer to the crazy people in the world. I do have a purpose and my job is important. I forget that all to often and I am so grateful for the patients that help me remember this.

*** Please forgive the terrible spelling and grammar. I'm to tired to fix it. ****

Sedona and Flagstaff

Last week Liz, Ami, Gabe, and I drove up to Sedona and through Oak Creek Canyon up to Flagstaff for the day. We were hoping there would be more fall leaves but it was still beautiful. Here are a million pictures. :)

We found this written in the dirt.
